The following was written in 1980 by Dorothy Klein Luers:

The first born to Anton and Catherine was a boy, traditionally named Henry, after his grandfather. A farmer needs sons to help with the farm work so it was fortunate that Henry had three brothers within six years. With all this boy power around as the boys grew, Henry was free to go off to do odd odds away from the farm. The biggest venture was a mail route. On May 12, 1908. Henry married Margaret Beckrich - 6/26/1889-1/11/1920. Their first home was a rented farm east of Shakopee, later known at the Thielen Farm. From there they moved to the Turner farm, just south a short distance from the Marrschall Farm. Henry bought this place and rented the land on the adjoining Eller Farm.

Henry was active in Farm Clubs, serving as director of the Twin City Milk Producers Association, president of the Eagle Creek Township Farmers Club and an officer of the Scott County Agricultural Society. He was a member of St. John's Society and the Third 0rder of St. Francis. About 1923 or 1924, four of the Marschall brothers formed a partnership and being the oldest. Henry probably had much to do with this. They were one of the first to buy a tractor and had their own threshing machine which was rented out after completing their own jobs.

A crushing blow resulted from the birth of their sixth baby. Margaret had delivery complications and on December 8, 1919, She was taken to the hospital in Shakopee by horse and sleigh. Their five children, then about ten to four years of age, still remember seeing their mother being carefully carried from the house and placed in the blanketed sleigh. On New Year's Day, she was taken to the Anton Marschall home for care. On January 11, 1920, she died. The family helped out. His sister, Elizabeth moved in with Henry and cared for the house. The younger children were taken by relatives. After being widowed for sixteen months, Henry married in April, 1921, Teresa Sames - 6/6/1892-11/21/72. About six months later tragedy struck again. Little two year old Leander was crushed to death by a wagon box that fell on him. Three sons were born to Henry and Theresa. While filling silo at Matt's, an accident cut off several of Henry's toes. Later in life, while at work on the farm, a steel sliver ricocheted into his eye, resulting in the loss of the eye.

With all of the misfortunes. Henry survived to live a long life. He enjoyed telling stories of his time spent in the State of Washington, in the Yakima Valley. His last years were spent traveling and visiting with his family all over the country. Prior to his death on April 6, 1963, he took residence at the nursing home in Glencoe. During World War II, six of Henry's sons were in the service of the country at the same time. All returned safely!
