"Now I am with our heavenly Father and I am brand new."

Amanda Matthews, 16 years old, is survived by her Mother, Tracy Matthews; Her Father, Bobby Matthews (Tonia Matthews "Momma T"); Nana Carolyn Matthews; Granddaddy Robert Matthews (Grandmamma Kim Matthews); Sister Heather Cook (Adam Cook); Brothers Kyle Matthews, Trevor Matthews (Breanna), D. J. Gibson; Her Aunt Teresa and Cousin Jacob Matthews; her nephews Kayden Matthews and Charlie Oliver; Her nieces Zoe and Lizzy Oliver. Her best friends Sara Davis, special Dani Nowland, Breanna Adaway, Brittany Isbell, Mindy Bailey.

Funeral Services were held Monday, February 14, 2011 at Gardendale Funeral Home with internment at Oakwood Memorial Garden in Gardendale, AL.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 5SE, 5NW and 5Tower. All the Doctors, Nurses and Staff in the PICU, Karen Boren at Children's Hospital. A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses, and staff in Pediatric Pulmonary Division of Children's Hospital. A special thanks to Liz Gunter in the Children's Harbor Center and to the clowns of Children's Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the CF Foundation and specify Research in memory or honor of Amanda Matthews.

Amanda battled Cystic Fibrosis all her life. She was our blue-eyed baby girl and she was a warrior for the fight to find a cure for CF.

"Life is too short to have regrets. So love the people who treat you right, and forget about the ones who don't, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it would be easy; they just promised it would be worth it."
