Bertha I. Britton Truesdale, 88, of 818 Superior St., formerly of Mannsville, died Saturday morning at Samaritan Medical Center.

Mrs. Truesdale worked for many years for the Bickley family at Rockledges in Henderson Harbor and later at the former Lally Manufacturing factory in Adams.

Born Sept. 10, 1917, in the town of Rodman, daughter of Levi and Adeline Spink Phillips, she attended schools in Mannsville and Adams.

She married John Britton on Dec. 3, 1935, in Carthage. The couple lived in Henderson and Mannsville for many years. Mr. Britton died Nov. 20, 1977. She married Joseph Truesdale on Oct. 8, 1980, in Mannsville. The couple resided in Watertown. Mr. Truesdale died Nov. 12.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Gary and Cindy Britton, Sandy Creek; a daughter, Joan Smith, Eustis, Fla.; a stepson, Ronald Truesdale, Watertown; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Peter (Patricia) Stafford, Lacona, Deborah Truesdale, Arizona, Barbara Truesdale, Rochester, and Shirley Truesdale, Watertown; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Jeanette E. Ripple, died in 1991. Three brothers, Claude, Ralph and Carl Phillips, four sisters, Lula Rogers, Bessie Britton, Gertrude Poole and Rena Parabeck, and a stepson, Joseph Truesdale Jr., died before her.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Burial will be in Adams Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
