Marion was united in marriage to Raymond E. Hofer on Jan 29, 1952 in Larimore. The couple lived in Arvilla where they raised their family before moving to Larimore in 1977.
Marion was an active member of the Arvilla Modern Homemakers for 27 years. She served on the Larimore School Board, was a member of the American Legion auxiliary, and the Edna Ralston Library board.
Marion's faith was central to her life. She served as an active member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church teaching religious education and serving in church circle and alter society.
She loved her garden, her friends, and her family. She and Ray enjoyed outings to the golf course, traveling and spending winters in Arizona.
On Oct 30, 2006 Marion passed away at her home surrounded by her loving children. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Larimore, ND with internment in Bellevue Cemetery
(Following is write-up by Marion for her 50th class reunion)
After graduating from Larimore High School, I attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. I married Ray Hofer in 1952. Ray started the "Ray Hofer Crane Service" in 1960. He had his office in our home and I spent the next 25 years answering the phone and sending out the bills.
We have a wonderful family. We have five children and 14 grandchildren and they are our pride and joy.
Ray and I have been active in community activities and we also keep busy with church activities.
We enjoy gardening, golf, visiting our children and traveling. We have been to Europe twice, to Hawaii once and have taken winter vacations to different places in the United States.
Our five children graduated from Larimore High School. We like small town living, the four seasons and Larimore is where we want to be. We've had a very good, happy life in North Dakota and wouldn't live anywhere else.
