Major Rupert Thomas MacKeen was an officer with The Candian Grenadier Guards 91st Regiment Grenadier Guards of Canada) who served with distinction with the 87th Battalion (Canadian Grenadier Guards) and the 1st Battalion CEF during WW1.

1914 - 14 December – Commissioned as Captain with 1st Regiment, Grenadier Guards of Canada

1915 – 24 September - Attested with 87th Battalion (Canadian Grenadier Guards) CEF as Captain (9 months 9 days)

1915 – 1 October – Appointed Acting Quarter Master with 87th Battalion (CGG)

1916 – 23 April – Embarked in Halifax and sailed to UK aboard HMS/SS Empress of Britain

1916 – 3 July – Transferred to 1st Battalion CEF as Captain

1916 – 6 July – Proceeded overseas to France (LeHavre)

1916 – 25 July – Wounded in Action and admitted to hospital and diagnosed with Shell Shock – Nervous Debility

1916 – 15 September – Returns to Canada aboard SS Missanabie on temporary leave

1916 – 17 October – Struck off strength from OMFC and recommended to remain in Canada on medical grounds

1917 – 9 April – Transferred from 87th Bn (CGG) to Military District 4 (MD4) for 'Special Service'

1918 – April - Promoted to Major while still serving with MD4

1918 – 20 May – Returned to UK to participate and present at The Inter-Allied Conference on the After-Care of Disabled Men

1918 – 1 June - Struck off strength with CEF and appointed District Vocational Officer in the Invalided Soldier's Commission (ISC)

1918 – Appointed a Civilian District Vocational Officer in Montreal

1921 – Relocated to Toronto and continues career as District Vocational Officer with Veterans Affairs
