Voncelle (Von) Moore, 89, formerly of Union, Michigan, died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Minden Medical Center. Following a private viewing, a graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA, where she will then be buried alongside her husband of 53 years. Pastor Dee Anders will officiate.
Ms Moore was born to Eula (Lawson) and Lloyd Jones on May 16, 1922, in Fox, OK. She married William (Bill) Moore on August 24, 1955, in Desoto County, MS. Her husband preceded her in death on June 3, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda (Joseph) Overhulser of Minden, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Oleta Davenport of Florida, and Loretta Lechner of Kansas.
Ms Moore was preceded in death by her older daughter, Donna Kenney; two sisters, Cassie Lou Sanders and Anna Margaret Boucher; four brothers, Bob, Frank, Carl, and Fred (Jr.) Muse.
Prior to her husband's death, Ms Moore and he had been regular visitors at Town & Country and Meadowview Nursing Homes, playing their guitar and tambourine while singing Gospel music for residents. Ms Moore was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying all opportunities to share with others her excellent sewing, cooking and gardening abilities.
