Harold O. Bunge October 23, 1927 – February 7, 2012 Harold O. Bunge, 84 of Monroe died at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Harold will lie in state Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry Loree Jr. will officiate with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Born October 23, 1927 in Lowden, Iowa he was the son of Otto and Dorothea (Licht) Bunge. Harold graduated from Concordia College, River Forest IL with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He received his Master's Degree from Condordia College, Seward NB. He married Miriam A. Honebrink on July 10, 1955 in Atwater, Minnesota. Harold was an elementary school teacher and principal in Lutheran Schools for many years, retiring in 1989 after 40 years. He served St. John Lutheran School, Atwater, Minnesota; Lynch Immanuel Lutheran School, Glenburn, North Dakota; and Holy Ghost Lutheran School in Monroe, MI. He continued as minister of visitation for an additional twelve years at Holy Ghost. Harold was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church where he sang in the Church Choir and served as a Bible Class Leader and Sunday School Teacher. He visited the shut ins and volunteered at the Monroe Lutheran Home. Harold was also a member of the International Lutheran Laymen's League. Harold was a very friendly person and will be greatly missed. He was a strong Christian, and was always ready to help. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife Miriam, sons, Jonathan (Joanne) Bunge of Monroe, David (Kathie) Bunge of Midland, Michigan, Mark (Nancy) Bunge of Dearborn and James (Linda) Bunge of Fort Mill, South Carolina; brother Robert (Elaine) Bunge of Lowdon, Iowa and sister Dorothy (Robert) Haensel of Great Falls, Montana; grandchildren Whitney Bunge, Luke Bunge, Melissa Bunge, Philip Bunge, Daniel Bunge, Andrew Bunge, Tatiana Bunge, Taylor Bunge, Ryan Bunge, Nicholas Bunge and Jessica Bunge; great granddaughter Sophia Bunge. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carl Bunge and Howard Bunge.
