John C. Bates Dies of Pneumonia on Last Thursday
John Creel Bates, age 28, of Bethlehem Community near Calvin, died Thursday of last week following an illness of three weeks and during which time he developed pneumonia.
Funeral services were held the following day at three o'clock in the afternoon at the Bethlehem Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. C. W. Arrington officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Eddie L. Jones, one son, J. C., and a baby daughter,Mary Yvonne, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bates, brothers Clayton, C. L.,A. W., E. O., George, Jr.,Henry, and Clarence Bates; sisters, Mrs. Marshall Canerday, Mrs. Curtis Key,Mrs. Murry Riffe, and Miss Clara Bates, all of Calvin and Bethlehem.
