Jan Beins Appelhof brother of Gerrit Jans Appelhof 1788-1833,sons of Jan Gerrits Appelhof 1768-1852 and Trijnts Beines of Groningen, Holland. He immigrated to Grand Rapids with his wife Petronella and three children. He was a blacksmith. They came across the ocean on an unknown ship and arrived in 1867.
Jan Biens took his own life on June 12, 1886 at his home 236 Goodrich, Grand Rapids, MI.
