Captain of the Volunteer Infantry of the 1st Georgia Militia in the War of 1812. Garrett Longmire Sandidge was the son of John Shelton Sandidge and Susannah Longmire. He married Frances Susan Smith on April 2, 1811 in Franklin Georgia. The family relocated, first to Madison County, Alabama. The 1850 US Federal Census enumerates Garrett, Frances, youngest daughters Elizabeth Elba and Laura Jane along with father John Shelton Sandidge. The Sandidges finally settled in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. Their other children were:
