Gertrude Arfons, 93, passed away from a broken heart on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
Her beloved husband and constant companion for 76 years of marriage, Walter Arfons, passed away just four months ago; and now they are together once again.
Gertrude was born in 1920 in Schwetzingen, Germany and came to Akron when she was 7 years old. She and Walter enjoyed their life traveling together and spending their winters in Bradenton, Florida.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband and their youngest son, Craig. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Richard) Stiff; son, Terry (Kathleen) Arfons; brother, John (Mary) Becker; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service at East Liberty Cemetery will be scheduled later by the family.
