NOTE: His name is not spelled Irwin. Our family records indicate his name is Erwin and is confirmed by relatives as well. It also says Erwin on the stone (it's hard to read now, but it's there).
Erwin Riley was born in Calhoun County, Michigan to Albert A Riley and his first wife Josie Barber Riley, the only son. His family moved to New Milford, Winnebago, Illinois sometime between 1874-1876. Sometime shortly after 1880 Census was taken, the family moved back to moved back to Calhoun County where most of their family still lived.
Unfortunately Erwin and his mother caught some disease and died just days apart. The rest of the family survived.
He is buried at North Athens Cemetery along with his mother. His father was also buried there years later.
