LEONARD J. WIESCHOWSKI
Leonard J. Wieschowski, 57, of 616 Miller-St, was dead on arrival at Alpena Hospital at 7 a.m. this morning (May 18).
Mr. Wieschowski was born May 15, 1919 in Long Rapids Township and on June 17, 1950 married the former Blanche Panowicz at St. Mary Church with the late Msgr. John E. Gatzke officiating. He had been employed for 29 years at Huron Portland Cement-Co, most recently as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army in World War 11 and was a member of American Legion William F. Weine Post No. 65, Knights of Columbus Council 529 and St. Mary Ushers Club.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five brothers, John of Catho, Frank, Leo, and Stanley of Alpena and Sylvester of West Long Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Stephen Donajkowski (Della) of West Long Lake, Mrs. Lloyd Peplinski (Nellie) of Bay City, Mrs. Alex Markowski (Rose) of Alpena and Mrs. John Lesniewski (Lucille) of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Harry, preceded him in death in 1972, as did a sister, Antoinette, in 1928.
Mr. Wieschowski's body is at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral home where friends may call after 7 this evening. A joint rosary will be recited this evening at 8 by Knights of Columbus Council 529 and the St. Mary Ushers Club, Wednesday at 7 p.m. the American Legion will have a prayer service and at 8 p.m. Wednesday there will be a parish prayer service. Funeral service will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at St, Mary Church with the Rev. Thaddeus Kopek officiating. Internment; Holy Cross Cemetery.
