JACK CARNEY (born John Francis Carney) was a nationally famed radio announcer and personality with KMOX/CBS Radio in St. Louis.

He pioneered the "talk" radio broadcast concept at KMOX with the "At Your Service" program and other innovative radio broadcast developments. His creative, quirky but personalized broadcast style won hundreds of thousands of listeners to the major Midwest CBS radio station. For many of his dedicated listeners in the Midwest, Jack was the archetype of the seasoned KMOX Radio "Voice of St. Louis" multitalented broadcast host.

A frequest emcee, panelist and guest host for numerous civic and charitable events and occasions, Carney helped raise millions of dollars for these causes and other worthwhile community projects throughout metro St. Louis and elsewhere.

His unexpected death in 1984 took his many listeners by great surprise, as well as KMOX staffers. (His son JOHN is now in the business as a famed regional radio personality). Jack Carney, Sr. was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2001.

After a private funeral service, Carney's cremated remains were inurned at Valhalla Chapel of Memories at VALHALLA CEMETERY in North St. Louis County.
