Mrs. Lottie May Knox, a lifelong resident here, died Saturday, September 23, in Olean General Hospital. Her home was at 2 Willow avenue.
Mrs. Knox was born here, April 29,1883, a daughter of Edgar and Nettie Lownsbury Oakes.
For about ten years she had operated a refreshment stand and candy store on Elm Street beneath the stairway alongside the former Robson store. She had also been employed at the Chevrolet plant in Buffalo during World War II.
Her husband, Willis Knox, died in 1940. She was also previously married to Harry Busenbark , who died in March, 1934 and to George Woodard who died July 22, 1938.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Briggs, one son Howard Woodard, 19Third Avenue; one brother Edward Oaks, 33 First Avenue; one sister, Mrs Rose Witter of Wellsville; one grandchild, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mar. Knox was a member of the Presbyterian church here.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Knight Washburn, pastor of the Presbyterian church Tuesday at 2:30p.m. at the Babbitt & Allen funeral home here, with burial in Mount Prospect cemetery.
