Joseph A Bernier Sr

PITTSFORD - Joseph A Bernier Sr, 88, died April 7, 2004, at Mountain View Center Genesis Elder Care in Rutland.

He was born Aug 31, 1915, in East Jaffery, NH, the son of Adelard and Lillian (LaBombard) Bernier.

He married Leona Trombley; she died in 1992.

He worked as a lumberjack for many years, and later at Vermont Marble Company's Loveland Quarry in Florence until his retirement. After retiring, he operated a blade sharpening business at his home.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph Bernier Jr of Newberry, SC, Philip Bernier Sr of Chittenden and Stephen Bernier Sr of Rutland; a daughter, Dorothy Wyatt of Fayettville, NC; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Bernier.

The funeral service will be at 11 am Tuesday at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford. Burial will follow in St Alphonsus Cemetery in Pittsford.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm Monday at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
