He had 2 brothers, Hubert and Bill, and two sisters, Ida and Margaret.
Tollie served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific theater in the Army Rangers. When he was mustered out in 1946, his first job in education was teaching vocational agriculture to veterans. Later he got a degree from Southeastern State in Oklahoma in the early 1950's and a master's degree in school administration from Oklahoma State University in 1955. He taught biology and chemistry at Onapa school near Checotah. He served as a principal at Eufaula and then at Canadian as school superintendent in 1956 until his retirement in 1985.
He loved to go bird hunting! He had a dog kennel for years and raised some champion birddogs.
Uncle Junior, as we called him, had a big booming voice and an even bigger personality. He could talk to anyone about anything and kept everyone interested in what he was saying. He was a joy to be around. We all loved him so much and still miss him today! He was my mother's baby brother. I wish everyone was lucky enough to have someone like him in their family.
