Raymond F. Denny Sr., 84, of Tarentum, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born July 22, 1927, in Harrison Township, a son of the late Franklin Denny and Anna (Callendar) Denny. He lived his entire life in Frazer Township and Tarentum. He worked as a carpenter at PPG Creighton for 32 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of Brackenridge American Legion Post 226, Tarentum VFW Post 5758, Lower Burrell VFW, Natrona Heights VFW and New Kensington Eagles. He enjoyed working on vehicles and could repair almost anything. A Pirate and Steelers fan, he enjoyed TV wrestling and country music. He enjoyed spending time with Mallory and Courtney. Survivors include his daughter, Marsha J. (Timothy) Rote, of Upper Burrell Township; son, Raymond F. (Chris) Denny, of Fawn Township; daughter, Debbie Hazlett, of Arnold; daughter, Glenda (Marvin) Wikes, of Brackenridge; grandchildren, Mallory Jane and Courtney Elizabeth Rote; and nine additional grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Flenner) Denny; and one brother. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth avenue at Corbet street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Harold M. Mele Jr., pastor of The Meadows Christian Community Church, Washington Township, officiating. Burial will be in private in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Joint services will be held in the funeral home by the Tarentum VFW Post 5758 and Brackenridge American Legion Post 226 immediately following the 10 a.m. service Saturday.
