Marjorie J. Eckenrod, 74, of New Cumberland passed away Friday, January 18, 2002 at home.

She was born Feb. 5, 1927 in New Cumberland, a daughter of the late Roy and Cloe Canter Thayer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Silas Eckenrod.

She was a graduate of New Cumberland High School and retired from Tomlinson Run State Park, last working concessions. She was a member of the Hancock County Piecemakers Quilting Club, the Rhododendron Rebekah Lodge and the New Cumberland United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, William "Buss" and daughter-in-law Sandy Eckenrod of New Cumberland; a brother, Roy Thayer, Jr. of Scottsdale, PA; two sisters, Wilma Boring of New Cumberland and Delores Stouffer of New Manchester; two grandsons, William Paul and David W. Eckenrod, both of New Cumberland and two great grandchildren, Zackery and Katlyn Eckenrod.

Services were held Monday, January 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Ray Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
