David B. Oldfield passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Williams on South Beech Street Friday evening after a short illness. He had been in good health until a few days previous, he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied. Mr. Oldfield was born at Mt. Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, November 25, 1823 and was 87 years, 2 months and 2 days of age at the time of his death.

He with his family moved to Stryker about the year 1880 where he was engaged in the brick and tile making business. In the year 1896, he with his wife came to Bryan to reside with his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Williams and family. His wife preceded him to the land of promise 12 years ago in April.

His sudden departure is mourned by his four children, Mrs. E. C. Daniels of Cassopolis, Mich., Mrs. Will Knight of Stryker, Mrs. J. S. Williams, and son James Oldfield of Bryan besides 18 grandchildren and many friends.

The funeral services were held from his late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. T. Stockstill of the Methodist church officiating. Interment in Fountain Grove Cemetery.
