Mr. C. L. Holstein an old and respected citizen died this morning at two o'clock of paralysis, in the 83 year of his age.
He was born in 1810 near Selpsic (is this Leipzig?) Germany, and came to this country during the 30's. After traveling over the States extensively he came to Madison.
For many years he was a prominent merchant and amassed during that time considerable wealth which has been largely invested in real estate.
His wife died in 1875. Two sons, his only children, survive him, Alois and Maj. A. Holstein who were at his bedside during his illness. His sister, Mrs. McKenny, Miss Beckman and J. R. Nickem of Indianapolis, have been telegraphed and no time for the funeral has been set, pending their arrival.
