Raymond W. Gaertner, a Northfielder from Milwaukee, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1986 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was 72. Gaertner was born March 24, 1914 to George and Tillie (Bruskwitz) Gaertner in Milwaukee. He married Ruth Christopher in that city on Sept.18, 1937. He was a police officer in Milwaukee and later in Menomonee Falls from 1941-76. He moved to Northfield three years ago. Gaertner was a member of the Retired Police Association and the Retired Fire and Police Association. He enjoyed playing golf and cards. Gaertner is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Northfield, daughter Christine Haack of rural Northfield, two grandchildren, Randy and Becky; one sister, Addie Lindemann of Milwaukee; brother Anthony of Glendale, Wis., and sister-in-law Sylvia Gaertner of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George. Gaertners funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Zwaska Funeral Home in Milwaukee. He will be interred at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Arrangements are by the Benson Funeral Home in Northfield.
