Daughter of Joseph S. Mills and Nancy C. Tims. Her parents married 12-Apr-1885 in Hardeman County, Tennessee. Her mother, Nancy Mills, died sometime between 1887 and 1892, when Joseph Mills married Frances "Fannie" E. Murley on 25-Dec-1892 in Hardeman County. It's possible that Nancy Mills is buried in Hardeman County but no grave has been found.

Barbara Mills had one brother, James Manson Mills, and five half siblings; Elma L., Andrew M., Tulia Vester (Escue), Bessie T. and Thomas Theodore.

Barbara Mills married George Felix Berryman Ferguson 31-Aug-1902 in Lauderdale County. They had six children; Gladys Demetrice (Lunsford, my paternal grandmother), Blanche (White), George Berryman (1906-1908), Flora L. (Manley), Collis (Hopper) and Everett Ferguson.

After the death of George Ferguson, Barbara married George Crook on 04-Dec-1920. They had two daughters together; Dorothy Janell and Wilma Ethel (Brown). Barbara also raised her grandson, Jerry Sellers, only child of Collis Ferguson Hopper. The family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas for several years, returning to Lauderdale County prior to the deaths of Barbara and George Crook.

Barbara Ethel Mills was my paternal great grandmother.
