Werner was one of several, possibly ten, children born to Robert Joseph Aigner, Sr. (1871-1952; no known memorial) and Gertrude Frances "Gurtie" Harig (1878-1948; no known memorial).

Werner married Devota A. Schnettler on May 8, 1944 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Also buried in Calvary Cemetery, without a marker, is Werner's maternal grandfather, Theodore Harig (~1850-1923; FAG# 104870969)
