First cousin of Nancy A. Carr Stahl (1827-1888), the maternal grandmother of humorist Will Cuppy (1884-1949). He married Nancy (Nannie) J. Martin in Fredericksburg, Ohio, on November 10, 1864. They had four sons. Enos was a Union veteran of the Civil War, serving in Co. E, 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Before selling insurance and real estate, he ran sawmills in Hicksville and Bryan, OH, and a grain elevator in Auburn. He suffered sun stroke during the war and never enjoyed full health afterward. He died following a long period as an invalid.
