A native and lifelong Peninsula resident, he graduated from Hampton High School, in 1966, and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He retired as a Virginia ABC store manager at the downtown Hampton store after more than 30 years of service. In his spare time, he loved woodworking, being with his kids, driving his pickup truck, and playing practical jokes on those he loved.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Collins Neal; his children, Carey Ann Williams and her husband, Andrew, Lisa Nelene Cutchin and her husband, Charles, all of Hampton, and Brent Jones of Minot, N.D.; his brothers, James Neal of Toano, and Dwight Neal of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Kylie and Isaac Jones, Lila Williams, and Jackson and Justin Cutchin; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved and enjoyed very much.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Roy P. White. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
