Violetta Coon Berkenbile, 90, Cedar Hill, Texas, died Saturday morning in Cedar Hill.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. Rev. Gabe Rivera will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Violetta Berkenbile was born Oct. 5, 1889, in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of Josiah S, and Elizabeth Sullenger Reed. She had lived in the Muscatine area until her move to Davenport in 1971. She later moved to Dallas in 1976.
Her first marriage to Charles Coon took place Aug. 9, 1911, in Muscatine. She later married Daniel Berkenbile on Oct. 4, 1970, in Davenport. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was past chief of the Pythian Sisters. She had taught school prior to her marriage.
Survivors include one son, LeRoy Coon of Cedar Hill, Texas; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Katharine Wilson of Grand view.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, three sons, one daughter, two brothers and a sister.
