Mr. Petropoulos died at Rhode Island Veterans Home. He was the son of the late Christos Peter Petropoulos and Vosio (Loures) Petropoulos.
He had been the owner and operator of Harold's Camera Centre for over fifty years until it closed in 1997. He was a 1938 graduate of Rogers High School. Mr. Petropoulos was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the European and African Campaigns. He served on the Newport City Council from 1962 to 1965 and on the Redevelopment Agency and was its past Chairman.
In addition to his wife, Rita P. (Devol) Petropoulos, he is survived by daughters, Cynthia De Angelo of North Reading, MA, and Krista V. Petropoulos of Newport, RI; two brothers, Peter C. and George Petropoulos; a granddaughter, Madeline De Angelo; a grandson, Jackson De Angelo; and nieces and nephews.
