Actor. Born Robert Michael O'Hare, Jr., in Chicago, Illinois. He attended both Harvard and Juilliard before earning a role in the 1976 mini-series 'The Adams Chronicles.' He made his Broadway debut in September 1978 in 'Players' which closed after three weeks. Three months later he was cast in 'Man and Superman' which ran for over a year. He earned guest roles in several television series such as 'T.J. Hooker,' 'Trapper John, M.D.' 'Kate and Allie,' 'The Equalizer,' and 'Tales from the Darkside.' In 1989, he took on the Broadway role of Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep in 'A Few Good Men' for 14 months. In 1993, he was cast in his signature role of Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in the television series pilot 'Babylon 5: The Gathering.' After the series was picked up, it ran from 1994 to 1998. Chronic illness, however, curtailed his participation, and he left the series after the first season, retuning only in a two-episode cameo in season two and guest appearance in season three, in order to complete the character's story arc. He only appeared twice more on film, in 1997 and 2000 in episodes of 'Law and Order.' He was the first Caucasian actor nominated by the black theater community of New York for the Audelco Award for the Best Actor for his performance in the apartheid-centered play 'Shades of Brown.'
