Marna Lee Swanson Beighton was the daughter of Orland and Estelle “Sally” Swanson. Her father was a popular school teacher in the Sheboygan Falls School District.

Marna was a 1950 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School.

On January 8, 1958, Larry D. Beighton and Marna L. Swanson were united in marriage in Waukegan, Illinois. Larry joined Marna in Heaven on January 11, 2007.

Marna worked many years as a secretary in the offices of the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wisconsin.

At the time of her passing, Marna was survived by her husband, Larry, daughters, Sally (Dennis) Murphy of Chesapeake, Virginia, Lori (Richard) Weyer of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and Jane (Jonathan) Laughrin of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Samantha Murphy, Tracey and Robyn Weyer, Kevin Laughrin; and her brother, Ernest Swanson.

Special Memories:

I was a neighbor and babysitter for Marna and Larry’s girls. Marna was my confident and mentor. Although there was a 19 year age difference between us, I always considered her one of my best girlfriends.

When I was 16 years old I started dating Tom Gilsdorf (also on Find A Grave). Tom's parents were friends with Larry and Marna. Many times on Saturday nights, Tom's parents and Marna and Larry would go out to dinner at various supper clubs. Tom and I liked to go along, because Tom was with his parents, and Marna and Larry "would be my parents." That way we could drink. Tom and I would have an Old Fashioned before dinner and an ice cream drink afterwards (a Pink Squirrel, Brandy Alexander, Grasshopper, Gold Cadillac, etc.). Tom and I thought we were so grown up! The law at that time was, if you were with your parents, you could drink alcohol. Of that fun group of the late 1960s, only I remain. They are all now together in Heaven enjoying rousing conversations, much laughter, and Brandy Alexanders.

Love, Lori Nash
