I am the Founder and Executive Director of SOAL: Saving Our Ancestors' Legacy.
Lincoln Cemetery is Harrisburg's oldest remaining historic Black cemetery. It is the final resting place of over 10,000 ancestors. Including many notable figures in local and national history, over 140 Civil War Veterans, & agents of the Underground Railroad.
Since 2021, SOAL has been working unpaid to restore the cemetery, its gravestones, and genealogy resources after an extended period of neglect.

We have digitized, thousands of burial records, and maps that have never been made publicly available before! In 2023 we partnered with the KindredSpirits Genealogy Work Group to transcribe the burial records and update the memorials on Findagrave with plot information. We continue to work on the transcription of these records.
