J. Cody GathingsJ. Cody Gathings, 18, of Horseshoe Neck Road, Lexington, died Wednesday night, Aug. 1, 2001, from injuries received in an automobile accident.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. Glenn Sanford.Born Nov. 3, 1982 in Davidson County, the local youth was a graduate of West Davidson High School and was employed with Catawba College Library and Subway Restaurant in Lexington. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia Beckom.Surviving are his parents, Jerri and Allen Malpass and Roger Gathings, all of Lexington; brothers, Shane Gathings, Sonny Gathings and Roger Dale Gathings Jr., all of Lexington, and Matthew Gathings of the home; three sisters, Cher Gathings of Lexington and Dusti Ingle and Alana Ingle, both of the home, and grandparents Gertrude Malpass of Delco and Bobbie Canterberry of Oak Ridge, Tenn.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Saturday night at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
