Originally called Maddox Cemetery, it was renamed Rose Hill Cemetery in 1880. Prominent burials there include leading citizens of the county, as well as the seventh Governor of Arkansas, Harris Flanagin, who lived from 1817–1874 and was governor during the Civil War. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
