He was a popular character player in British films throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He first appeared on the West End stage in London in 1928 and continued to work in the theatre during the 1930s. A veteran of nearly 100 feature films, he made his screen debut in "The Double Event" (1934). Besides the James Bond features, his credits include "The Fallen Idol" (1948), "Out of the Clouds" (1955), "Kidnapped" (1960), "Dulcima" (1971) and "It's Not the Size That Counts" (1974). He was also active on television, appearing on "The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre", "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color", "Secret Agent", "Arm Chair Theatre" and "The Foundation". He died of cancer in London, England, at age 73.
