Jake leaves behind his wife of 70 1/2 years, Myrtle; his three children, Kathleen Halden Ackelbein, Edward J. Halden and Carol Halden Powers, the parents of his 10 grandchildren and15 great-grandchildren.
Jake was an avid tennis player until he was 80 years of age. He served his country in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War as a reservist. He will be greatly missed, but he was blessed when the Gates of Heaven opened for him.
Burial will be a military celebration to be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. A buffet will be provided by the beloved church family of New Harbor Community Church at 4858 E. Second St., Benicia, after the memorial service officiated by Pastor Kelly Patchin. Those attending the buffet, please R.S.V.P. at (530) 878-1221. In honor of Jacob, any donations can be sent to the Florence Douglas Sr. Center, 333 Amador St., Vallejo, CA 94590.
