He was born Dec. 21, 1913, in Port Huron, where he lived most of his life. He married Blanche McLaren March 19, 1960, in Port Huron.
Mr. Maes was a truck driver for Hess Trucking Co. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Robert Maes and Frank McLaren, both of Marysville, Darwin Maes, Sterling Heights, and Ronald Maes, New Haven; seven daughters, Mrs. Norm (Leona) Wingard, Herdon, Va., Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Hamilton, Oconomowac, Wis., Mrs. Robert (Jean) Faber, Flushing, Mrs. Duane (Janet) Glady, Marlette, and Mrs. Ron (Carol) Jury, Mrs. Tom (Sandra) Moses and Mrs. Ralph (Eileen) Strilcov, all of Port Huron; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Wilihemia) Navarre, and a brother, Russell, both of Port Huron; an aunt, Mrs. Clara Jonckheere, Sterling Heights; 22 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Arthur Smith Funeral Home South Chapel. The Rev. Frederick A. Schoof of Our Saviour church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens; in Garden of Christus, Section 39.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Mark Faber, James Murowitz, Ronald Strilcov, David Glady and Leonard Middleton.
