Elwin Shorty Wittum
Age 81, of Lennon, passed away Tuesday, December 23rd 2003, at Memorial Health Care Center.
Mr. Wittum worked for General Motors for 25 Years before retiring in 1972, in Final Repair Dept.
Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Durand, Friday, December 26, 2003, at 3 pm with Pastor Steven Lockman officiating.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends noon to 3 pm. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wittum was born December 14, 1922, in Flint, the son of Asa and Jessie (Jackson) Wittum and resided most of his life in Shiawassee Co.
He was married first to Dorothy Myrna Durkin, who predeceased him in 1959. He then married Helen -Lester Wittum on January 2 1999 in Flushing.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Flushing, was very active in the Durand Senior Center and was on the S.C.O.A. Board.
He was in the Merchant Marines during World War ll.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Lennon; three daughters, Mrs. William (Nancy) Laier of Howell, Mrs Walt (Linda) Widder of Durand, Mrs. Michael (Sue) Bentley of Lennon; ten Grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Durand Senior Center.
