The 4-month-old daughter of celebrated Anglo-American architect Benjamin Latrobe and his American-born second wife, Mary Elizabeth (nee Hazlehurst), Juliana's death was blamed on the "carelessness of a drunken nurse".
Her marble monument in the Classical style was designed by her father, and features a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. It is significant in that it has been cited as the first of its kind in New Jersey, with features that characterize monuments that Latrobe later designed for distinguished burials in Washington DC and in New Orleans, Louisiana.
