NEW CUMBERLAND-Janet Porter, 70, of New Cumberland, passed away, Friday, April 12, 2013.

She was born July 20, 1942 in Congo, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clifford and Evelyn Sweat Jacobs

Janet retired after working many years as the food service supervisor, for Hancock County School System and a sales representative for Avon; where she was awarded the top sales representative twice. She was a member of the New Cumberland Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Gene" Porter Sr., a grandson, Alexander Douglass Porter and a brother, Gary Jacobs.

Surviving are four sons, Gene (Denita) Porter Jr. of Kentucky, Mitch (Amy) Porter of Chester, David (Joan) Porter of Erie, Pa. and Jason (Maggie) Porter of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Kristen (Jake) Mosley, Trent Porter, Josh (Keshia) Porter, Dean Porter, Ryan Porter, Bethany Porter, Gabe Porter, Nicole Smith, Tasha Smith, Aaron Smith; three great-grandchildren, Colten Myers, Alyssa Henry, Alexander Jones; three sisters, Shirley (Ron) Tice of East Liverpool, Sandra (Dave) Ice of Newell and Sheila Backus and companion, Jeff of East Liverpool; and a brother, David (Mona) Jacobs of New Cumberland.

Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.
