Raymond Henson, Jr.
Funeral services for the Rev. Raymond Henson, Jr., 71, of Minden will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Rose-Neath Chapel, Minden with the Rev. Tony Smith, the Rev. C.L. Bourn and the Rev. Jeff Flenniken officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens Memory.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, July 28 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Janice Henson; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Sparks.
He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 51 years and eight months, Mary Henson of Minden; son, Michael Ray Henson and wife Barbara of Olive Branch, Miss., daughter, Rhonda Jones Henson of Minden; sisters, Earline Gregory of Batesville, Ark. and Betty Halton of Milwaukee, Wis.; brothers, G.W. Henson of Jonesboro, Ark., James Henson of Hopkins, S.C., and Paul Henson of Newark, Ark.; three grandchildren, Adam Sparks of Dubberly, Brittney Sparks of Bossier City and Jesse Neyman of McKinney, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Sparks and Ashton Sparks of Benton.
Raymond and Mary were high school sweethearts and were married after graduation. He was in the Air Force for 12 years. He took four years of colloege at Baptist Christian College in Mo. and received a Bachelor of Theology. He took two years of college at Baptist Christian College, Shreveport and received a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries.
He later pastored New Testament Baptist Church, Texarkana, Texas. He served as Minister of Visitation at Hope Baptist Church, Alexandria.
He also pastored at Sibley Missionary Baptist Church Sibley, Waskom Baptist Temple, Waskom, Texas and Friendship Baptist Church Boyd, Texas.
