He and wife Lillian Mary Thomas spent most of their married life in New Mexico, where he worked for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe. They retired to California, where he died in a Veterans's Hospital. He had served in the army as an engineer 1917-1919. Lillian was apparantly living in Durango at the time of his death, and ordered his Veteran's headstone here. (They had 5 children.) She is buried with him (1896-1977.)
