Died Aug. 28, 1842
Aged 100
He was a native of Germany and came to this country in Burgoyne's army. He deserted at Ticonderoga and joined the American army at Bennington as a volunteer. He was a faithful Republican, and served during the Revolution. At the close of the war he married and settled in Sunderland, Vt. From there he moved to Essex and then to Fairfax in 1800, where he spent the remainder of his days as an industrious farmer and a true Christian. ["The Spirit of '76", p. 66, November 1895]
