She was born on June 12, 1932 in Granada, CO to Robert Lee Fortner Sr. and Alta May (McSpadden) Fortner. JoAn was united in marriage to Loren C. Clayton on September 5, 1950 in Lockwood, MO. She was a member of the Lockwood First Baptist Church, and served as the church secretary for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Alta Fortner; one son, Phillip Clayton; one grandchild, Chad Clayton; four brothers, Thomas Fortner, Robert Fortner Jr., Raymond Fortner, and Bobby Fortner; and two sisters, Alma Clark and Eula Kirkhart. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, in the Lockwood First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy.
