Motion Picture Director, Screenwriter. He was born in Arad, Hungary, and worked for several Hungarian newspapers before moving to Germany, where he began a prolific career in the cinema. He is remembered for his musicals and costume pictures, such as "Der weisse Traum" (1943), "Hundstage" (1944), and "Das Hochzeitshotel" (1944). While shooting the film "Leuchtende Schatten" in early 1945, he was denounced by a Nazi informer and imprisoned for two months in Prague. In the 50s and 60s, he directed "Der Mann, der sich selber sucht" (1950), "Tanzende Sterne" (1952), "Banditen der Autobahn" (1955), "Der schräge Otto" (1956), "Der müde Theodor" (1957), "Die Beine von Dolores" (1957), "Wehe, wenn sie losgelassen..." (1958), "Peter schiesst den Vogel ab" (1959), "Salem aleikum" (1959), "Als geheilt entlassen" (1960), "Kriminaltango" (1960), "Die Abenteuer des Grafen Bobby" (1961) and "Charley's Tante" (1963). One of his last films was "Karamurat - sein Kungfu ist tödlich" (1977). He died in Diessen, Bavaria, Germany.
