Born in Loweswater, Cumberland County, England to Robert and Mary Parker. Siblings were: Hannah b: 1833; Jonathan 1835; John 1838 and Joseph 1840.
Tom married Agnes Elizabeth Wilson in 1867 Scranton, Pennsylvania. Their children are:

Thomas Parker and William Carlyle (married to Margaret Wilson, Thomas Parker's wife, Agnes' sister) sank the first mineshaft of the Thurber, Texas coal field on property owned by Wm. W. and H.E. Johnson. Discovery of coal built Thurber and caused the establishment of The Texas and Pacific Coal Company.
