Singer, Actress. A versatile performer, she shall be remembered as a long-time star of the Spanish stage, screen, and recording studio. Born Maria del Dulce Nombre Diaz Ruiz, she was raised within the theatrical milieu, made her professional stage debut at six, had her 1948 silver screen bow in "The Cicada", and achieved her first renown in the Spanish musical genre called Zarzuela. Over the years she appeared in dozens of films, earning a 1951 National Union of the Spectacle Best Supporting Actress Award for "Grooves" and a 1961 Best Actress for "Fluff", while becoming a regular on the Madrid stage and, with time, the Spanish small screen, while continuing her musical career which concentrated mainly on Spanish music and Cabaret. Marujita was married at least twice, essentially never retired, made her final big screen appearance in 1998's "Tesoro", and was seen on episodes of "Salvalme Deluxe" as late as 2013. At her death from pulmonary disease, her art was preserved on both CD and DVD.
