Actor. Stuntman. Best known for numerous appearances in the "Three Stooges" short films. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his prolific career included over 250 films in forty years. His multiplicity of roles(mostly unaccredited), covered a plethora of characters and occupations. He played a butler, bartender, piano player, hobo, warden, pirate, professor, waiter, doctor, storekeeper, photographer, sheriff, valet, and German sailor. He was a stunt double for Andy Clyde, and possessed a physical versatility, stamina, and pluck to handle the most challenging stunts. Among his Three Stooges shorts, he had credited roles in "Violent is the Word for Curly"(1938) as Professor Frankfurter, "You Nazty Spy!(1940) as Axis Minister, and "If a Body Meets a Body"(1945) as Uncle Bob O. Link. Some of his other Three Stooges shorts were "Pardon My Scotch"(1935), "Disorder in the Court"(1936), "Dizzy Doctors"(1937), "A Plumbing We Will Go"(1940), "Loco Boy Makes Good"(1942), "Back From The Front"(1943), "The Yokes On Me"(1944), "Beer Barrel Polecats"(1946), "Three Little Pirates"(1946), "Half-Wits Holiday"(1947), and "Blunder Boys"(1955). Al Thompson died at the Motion Picture Country Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was 75.
