JAMES BRUCE ASHWORTH, 62, passed away July 7, 2012 at his home in Frisco, Texas, of a heart attack. He was born Oct. 1, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada to parents Verle and Shirley (McGee) Ashworth. Bruce was a PGA golf professional and successful small business owner, spending the majority of his life in the Las Vegas valley.

A 1967 graduate of Las Vegas High School, he then graduated from University of Houston in 1971, where he was a member of the Cougars, National NCAA Championship Golf Team in 1969 and 1970. He played the PGA Tour for two years, and was assistant golf professional at the Dunes Hotel Golf Club from 1975-1980. He was then head golf professional at Lake Havasu City’s London Bridge Golf Club from 1980-1987. Bruce owned and managed Security Archives in Las Vegas from 1987-1996.

He married Charlotte Clay of Harris, Texas on October 21, 1974.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlotte; his two sons, Alan of Las Vegas, and Derek of Chicago; his brother, Gary (Nancy) Ashworth of Las Vegas; and his sister, Barbara (Randy) Plymell of Reno.

Celebration of Life Services were held at Green Valley United Methodist Church, Henderson, NV.
