Richard, his wife Agnes and six children immigrated to the U.S. sometime between 1843 and 1850 after the birth of their youngest son Henry. Richard and Agnes left four of their children in England who had died previously, John (6 yrs.), Mary (5 yrs.), Marianne (1 yr.) and James (under 8 mos.). Their first appearance was the 1850 Census in Fallsburg, Sullivan, New York.
