John's grandparents were William George McCracken (born 1855 - died September 1911 Coatbridge, Northwest Lanarkshire Scotland, Burial Belfast, Ireland) and Bridget McCoey (born 1850 Ireland - died September 7, 1917 Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland) both were married in Seapatrick Catholic Church in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland, on May 14, 1868. John's great grandfather was George McCracken (born about 1827 from Ireland) and great grandmother Mary Jane Prentice, and his great grandfather's older brother was John McCracken (born about 1824 from Ireland.) John married Sarah "Sadie" Carroll (Born May 9, 1906 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland - died September 1981) on January 15, 1927 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, USA. John and Sadie had eight children. John worked for Henry Ford in 1929 to 1933 as a machinist in Michigan, USA and Dagenham, Essex, England in 1933 to 1939 before World War II. He worked for Albion Motors, Scotstown, Glasgow County, Scotland as a machinist in 1940 to 1948. The house was built on 15750 Ash Street, East Detroit (now East Point), Michigan, USA in January 1948. The family immigrated to the United States by December 1948. John worked as a machinest most of his adult life in Detroit, Michigan. John enjoyed singing as a Irish tenor and performed on BBC radio in the 1940s in Glasgow, Scotland. He enjoyed soccer. John passed away from cancer on September 27, 1981 in Michigan. He was buried at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan at age 76 next to his wife Sarah "Sadie" (Carroll) McCracken. He was married over 50 years.
